2003-08-03 : Laughter
Today I laughed.

I laughed so hard I thought that I was going to explode. It was one of those laughs that make you cry. One of those laughs that make your sides ache. It was one of those laughs where you are gasping and choking for air.

It felt good.

I haven't laughed like that in a very long time. I think that people stop laughing as they get older. What I mean is, the don't allow themselves to laugh at stupid, little, silly things. Everything and everyone has become too politically correct. We don't allow ourselves to laugh at anything that might offend .01% of the population.

I think that's stupid.

It's okay to laugh at dirty jokes and stupid stories, as long as there is no real malice involved. Blond jokes, fat jokes, stories about a priest, a rabbi, and a shaman are all okay as long as it's known that these are for entertainment, not harshness.

People don't laugh at themselves anymore. It's as though they think that they will offend someone if they find something that is off-color amusing. Everybody needs to calm down and become just a little more politically incorrect.

Laugh at yourself when you do something embarrassing. Farts and tripping while walking are all funny. Hell, laugh at others when they do these things. It happens to all of us.

Laugh at a joke that uses you as the punchline. Don't be offended. Think about it - if everyone else is laughing, it was probably funny because what they said about you was true.

Laugh when you see a funny sign, a funny picture, or a kid going through his dork phase dressed in funny clothes.

Life is too short to be offended. Stop being such a prude and have a good fucking time.

Laugh as though you will never be able to laugh again.

Because, you know, it's alway good to have the last laugh.
